This song wasn't completed until 2008, but came from a piano idea Kevin was tinkering with whilst we were on tour in Germany. When I heard the melody chiming from the backstage, i followed it along the labyrinth of corridors inside Berlin's 103 club. At the far end of the building I found Mr Kennedy plonking away on a battered old upright piano. I immediately started singing Silent Roads' chorus, and I remember us quickly recording a a sketchy version of it on my dictaphone. This forlorn lament to lost love and new directions perfectly signs off the NEMO canon at the very end of our final album 'The Third Wave'. With the help of an amazing string arrangement by Anne Marie Kirby, the song was completed and recorded in London and is the perfect bridge between one musical era and the next. As the NEMO door was closing, another was opening, and, by 2010, I had already completed a new album, The Dollhouse, with the aformentioned violinist.
