I wrote this song in Uruguay but finished it in London. I always loved the idea of falling into someone's arms, only to find they were phantom limbs. Television have a song called Venus which echoes this sentiment. It's to do with having a slightly warped image of a partner who turns out to be more (or less) what you didn't expect to be.
